Varsaw Beautiful Architectural Style

Warsaw is the capital of Poland and the most populous city in the country. The city is located in the center of the country directly on the River Vistula. Warsaw is not only important because it is the capital and main economic hub of the country,
but also because of how much it has to offer in regards to culture. In addition to various subcultures that are constantly developing and which lead to various new styles, there are also many traditional and historical sights to see which are worth visiting.

Warsaw is an extraordinary city that attracts people from all over the world. Every year its history and special atmosphere excite visitors. Especially the old downtown district is worth a visit, because it radiates its own unique atmosphere which gives a peaceful and charming image of the city. The old town was named by the UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site which only emphasizes its significance and beauty.

Besides the old town there are also many museums which are worth seeing. A trip to the Historical Museum, for example, is worth the while. Here you will find an in depth glimpse into the history of the city. The museum has been around since 1936 and there are paintings, prints and drawings, as well as some old photographs. In particular the collections of writings and graphics from the time of the November Uprising and the Great Emigration are worth seeing, as well as the collection of patriotic memorabilia from the years 1861 – 1863. There is also a movie theater in the museum that plays, among other things, movies from the Second World War which portray the destruction and reconstruction of the city.

Another museum that you should visit is the Chopin Museum in Ostrogski Castle. The permanent exhibition on the master composer called “Chopin at Home and Abroad” is worth seeing and gives a vivid impression of the life and work of the artist. Besides personal belongings, documents and manuscripts of Chopin there are also some paintings and sculptures from his friends and acquaintances that were dedicated to him. There are also other sights to see in the city which are dedicated to Chopin, such as the Chopin Monument, the Chopin Hall or the Holy Cross Church where the heart of the composer is found inside a pillar.

That is not all that Warsaw has to offer, though. There is a lot more to see. You shouldn’t miss seeing the many old and interesting examples of architecture such as, for example, the Prymasowski Palace from the year 1593. The palace is considered to be one of the first in Poland which had a classical design. In the so-called Great Hall there are also Ionic columns and some fine classical stucco works.

The Royal Baths are also something worth seeing. They were originally built around 1660, but have been rebuilt several times since then. Today the building houses the remarkable Pilsudski Museum, among some other things.

During your stay in Warsaw you should also get out and experience the nightlife. This is different than the cultural and historical sites, but nevertheless worth it. The city has a lot of bars and taverns where you can find something for every taste. You will experience the city in a whole different atmosphere and have fun while doing so!
