Built on numerous islands that form many canals in a shallow lagoon, Venice lives along the overwhelming presence of its bridges. Not less than 444 bridges connect the lives of the Venetians every day. The historical center is breathtaking and the list of its wonders is long. Venice and its myth has been so often used in art, literature and music than even people who have not been and visited Venice yet know what the « Serenissima » refers to.

The plaza in front of the church, where hundreds of tourists meet and gather during the summer is also very impressive. On your arrival at the Santa Lucia train station, you won’t miss one of the most famous sites in Venice, the Grand Canal, as it is located right in front of the station. The canal goes from the Piazzale Roma and furrows until the Punta Della Doganna, close to the Salute Church. A romantic ride on a gondola on this historical canal will be one of the great highlights of your stay in Venice. During your ride, you will be able to admire the most ancient bridge which spans over the Grand Canal: the Rialto Bridge. Plus, a visit to the Dodges Palace is recommended. This will allow you to discover different royal chambers, the Leads, as well as the very well-known Bridge of Sighs.

The surrounding islands are very much prized for excursions: you can reach them only by waterway.
