For a change of pace, visit some of the many concerts and activities that take place in the beautiful summer months. One particular highlight is the Art Festival in Taormina which takes place in the summer and is one of the most frequently visited festivals in Sicily. The strong catholic influence can be felt all throughout Italy, and in Sicily it is especially prevalent as there are many Christian festivals that are amply celebrated. Visitors are always welcome and receive a great experience from the enormous hospitality of the Sicilians.

Sicily is surrounded by a scuba divers paradise, and if you want to take a break from your on land vacation, just dive into the Mediterranean for a completely new wonder. Although under water isn’t the only place you can experience exciting activities. Boat tours around the island offer great opportunities for dolphin watching and marine animal sightings. Other special attractions are the so called literature parks where famous Sicilian authors display their work and visitors can experience firsthand what their writings represent. Some of Sicily’s most famous authors are Salvatore Quasimode, Andrea Camilleri and Leonardo Sciascia. Head to one of these literature parks to see some of their work. Another great highlight Sicily’s capital, Palermo. This city filled with many back streets is filled with little stores and shops that are inviting to every tourist.
