Nestled about 25 miles away from the Tanzanian coast in the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar offers its visitors many magical experiences.

Only 60 miles long and 20 miles wide, Zanzibar is a prime example of a sunny tropical island. The average temperature year-round is about 80 degrees which is the perfect weather for exploring Zanzibar’s historical stone town, the only functioning old town in east Africa. The old town consists of many narrow streets, cafes, mosques and houses. The locals, who speak Swahili and English, are very friendly to tourists and are proud to show you around their shops. The stone town in Zanzibar was designated as one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites.

Monkeys, pigs, antelope and birds are just some of the wildlife one might find while touring Zanzibar. The warm waters also make the perfect habitat for a colorful underwater world to thrive. The beaches of  Zanzibar are magnificent; crystal clear waters and white sand are ideal for exploring more than just what can be found on land. During a snorkelling or scuba diving adventure, you might see a beautiful coral reef filled with exotic fish.

The economy in Zanzibar focuses on fishing and agriculture. Many restaurant menus focus on fish dishes with fresh vegetables. The freshest seafood can be purchased at one of the outdoor markets where fisherman sell freshly-caught lobsters, crabs and crawfish in their individual stalls . Grills are also set up outside so you can enjoy your catch right away! Other staple foods include rice and cassava, sweet potatoes and bread fruit.
